Weekend Vacation

This past weekend we went to Traverse City for a 3 day weekend.  My high school friend and cheer pal invited Mark, Camden and I, and another high school friend and cheer pal Lucy, her husband Adam and their daughter Joanna.

We arrived at the house last (of course!) and had a great dinner of grilled chicken made by Ali's husband, Ryan.  Very yummy after a long drive!

On Friday Lucy, Alison and I managed to sneak out for a couple of hours to do some wine tasting on Old Mission Peninsula, leaving the guys to tend to the kiddos.  Of 7 wineries we visited 4 and tasted some excellent wines!

Saturday was Ryan's birthday and started with Alison's homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast.  Mark made shrimp shish kabobs for dinner...YUM!  He is such a great cook.  Dessert was a homemade lemon cake Alison made and it was fabulous.

Saturday afternoon Mark, Camden and I went and walked around downtown for a few hours by the water.  We did a little shopping and some wine tasting, and bought some Cherry Sangria wine with Cherry ginger ale...delicious!  We had such a great afternoon just walking around, taking in the beautiful views, holding hands and talking.

Our last night there was spent around a campfire after all the kiddos went to bed, sharing laughs, great conversations and some adult beverages.

Sunday was Mark's first official Father's Day.  He is such a wonderful daddy to both kids, from coaching Parker's t-ball team to laying on the floor just playing with Camden, doing whatever he can to make him laugh.  I know God picked him specifically for us because I couldn't have picked anyone better myself.
