My Wednesday nights are typically spent with my best friend Alicia. Last night it was spent at Wal-Mart grocery shopping, and I think I learned I need to just stick with the norm.
After spending far too much time grocery shopping (I'm talking 2 hours here), Camden and I finally were on our way out the door with our cart full of groceries. He is still kind of small for the seat in the cart so he made me carry him the whole time I shopped. (This way, if I didn't pay enough attention to him it was easier for him to bite my shoulder. This is the new game he invented, I have yet to win.) By the time we were done my arm just feels like rubber so I hit the remote starter to start cooling off the car so I can put him in his seat while I load the groceries into the trunk. I threw my keys in my purse, purse in the car, shut the door..... CLICK! OH MY GOSH.... It was definitely one of those moments where I realized my mistake a half a second too late - I had completely forgotten the doors automatically lock after hitting the remote starter. All I could do is sit and stare for a minute from outside at my keys in my purse, inside the car, almost like I was willing the unlock button to be pushed by brain power. Thankfully I hadn't put Camden in his seat first!
So inside I go with Camden still on my hip, cart full of groceries. I have never done this before so I have no clue who to even call! For a brief second I considered going in and seeing if they would page out over the PA if there was anyone in the store who knows how to break into cars without breaking a window. This Wal-Mart is pretty ghetto so I'm thinking my chances of getting lucky, that there would be at least one person, are pretty good. Instead we go to the customer service desk where the woman called the police. Thank GOD they still take this type of call! Within a half hour Camden and I were loading up the car and heading home.
There is never a dull moment...not even with a simple grocery trip to Wal-Mart.
