Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue

It's been awhile since my last post about our wedding. At the rate I am going it'll take me our entire first year of marriage to do all the posts I want to do to share our wedding and trip to Jamaica!

Even though we didn't have a traditional wedding, there were a couple of traditions I still wanted to maintain. One of them was the 'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'. Nikki, as my maid of honor thought to contact my sister and Alicia, asking if they would like to contribute something special. I am so glad Nikki thought to give me these precious and special gifts before getting my make up done because needless to say they made me cry!

My Something Old - a lace hankie my great-grandmother made years ago sent from AnnMarie and my Aunt Wanda.

My Something New - An ankle bracelet from Nikki

My Something Borrowed from Alicia (the hair clip). This worked out so perfectly because leading up to the wedding I couldn't find anything I liked for my hair!

My Something Blue from AnnMarie.

AnnMarie also sent a letter.

Amanda,
It sucks I can't be there with you but here is a little something to bring me there in Spirit. When Nikki first asked me if I wanted to partake in this I was stumped. I wasn't sure what I would do and then it hit me so here it goes...

Blue Pandora Bead: I hope this bead will remind you of your special day and the ocean you were near every time you look at it and may it remind you a love and marriage are like that ocean; beautiful while it is calm, but bound to have a few waves here and there.

White hankie: I got together with Aunt Wanda and she pulled out the best of the ones that she had that Nana made. This one I felt was the most beautiful out of all of them to match how beautiful that you will be on your day.

I know that I tell you this all the time but I love you and I hope that you will be happy, you deserve it. Just please remember to not lose who you are in your happiness, it can be easy to do.

Now stop crying and go get married you nut!
I love you!
AnnMarie

I feel fairly certain this was her way of getting me back for my speech I gave at her wedding. AnnMarie, I know you read my blog from time to time....it worked.

Even though Alicia and AnnMarie couldn't physically be there for our day, these gifts and the thoughts remind me that no matter how far apart we are they are always in my heart.
