Field Trip

Parker had a field trip on 12/23/11 to The Henry Ford. Since I was already off that day I signed up to chaperone. My first time ever chaperoning. I was in charge of 2 other boys plus Parker. They were so full of energy! I let them basically 'guide' me around the museum where they wanted to go and pick what they wanted to look at. They were really well-behaved and seemed to have had a good time.

Parker really impressed me. He really has so much enthusiasm for history and was so excited to show the other 2 boys the chair Abraham Lincoln was shot in, he knew about the Women's Sufferage exhibit, the Rosa Parks bus, the Presidential cars, and on and on. He also knew about the KKK exhibit, which was a bit awkward for me at first, not knowing how the parents of the other 2 boys would feel about this particular exhibit being pointed out to their children. The other 2 boys were asking him what the 'costume' was for and Parker told them it was because 'a long time ago white people weren't nice to black people, and this is what the white people who hated black people wore.' I know I say it often and people think I am biased, but he is one smart kiddo. I was so proud of him. They even got to work on an 'assembly line' building model cars.
