So as I sifted through all of the posts surrounding the death of Whitney Houston, I came across an article posted by one of my favorite bloggers, Mary Tyler Mom. You may remember she has a daughter who passed away from cancer at only 4 years old. I love following her, as I felt like I grew to know her and her family personally through her sharing Donna's cancer story.
The article is about an important drug used to treat childhood leukemia is in short supply. Experts estimate hospitals will deplete the supply within about 2 weeks, putting children largely at risk of dying from this disease.
The FDA is working very hard to bring forward other sources for this drug until the primary manufacturers can sort out and correct their quality issues. But in the meantime it is hard for me to imagine how these families must feel, facing this issue. As if their child fighting cancer doesn't already have enough to deal with?

And another article MTM posted about why drug shortages happen and what they mean.
This is the stuff that is important.
